Morrison County, MN has been awarded federal funds available through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter Nations Board Program (EFSP)

The selection was made by a National Board that is chaired by the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security‚Äôs Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from the Salvation Army; American Red Cross; The Jewish Federations of North America; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA; and the United Way World Wide.  The Local Board was charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food and shelter program in high-need areas around the country.

               A Local Board made up of food shelves, American Red Cross, United Way, non-profits and a Community Action Agency will determine how funds awarded to the Morrison County jurisdiction are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service organizations in the area.  The Local Board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds and any additional funds available under this phase of the program. 

               Under the terms of the grant, local organizations chosen to receive funds must: 1) be private voluntary non-profit or units of government, 2) have an accounting system, 3) practice non-discrimination, 4) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and shelter programs, 5) if they are private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board, and 6) be eligible to receive Federal funds, including having a DUNS number.

Public or private voluntary agencies located in the Morrison County interested in applying for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds must contact Local Board Contact, Darlene Morgenstern-Loch, for an application.  Completed applications must be received by the Local Board Contact, Darlene Morgenstern-Loch by  May 5,2022 either by email or Postal Service.
